How to Find Creative Inspiration When I Feel Stuck
Every creative person hits stretches where ideas do not come. Here are the habits I have built for finding inspiration when the well feels dry. Every creative person hits stretches where ideas do not come. I have been through enough of these stretches to know they end, but that knowledge does not help in the moment. What does help is a set of habits I have built for finding inspiration when the well feels dry. None of them are exotic. All of them work if I actually do them. Step Away from the Screen First My first instinct when stuck is to stare harder at the screen, looking at inspiration galleries and waiting for something to click. This rarely works. The screen is where I make things, not where I find the urge to make them. When I am stuck, the best move is to close the laptop and do something unrelated. Walking is the most reliable trigger for me. Not walking while listening to a podcast about creativity, just walking. The physical movement and the change of scenery loosen whatever was stuck. Ideas arrive when I am not chasing them, which is why I keep a notes app handy to capture them before they evaporate. More guides are on the Spark Blog.
